Article 168. Robbery

1. Any person who uses violence, threatens to use immediate violence, or commits other acts that render the victim incapable of resistance in order to appropriate property shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of between 03 years and 10 years.

2. The offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of between 07 years and 15 years if the offense falls under any of the following circumstances:
   a) Organized crime;
   b) Committed in a professional manner;
   c) Inflicting injury or causing harm to the health of another person with a bodily injury rate from 11% to 30%;
   d) Using weapons, instruments, or other dangerous methods;
   dd) Appropriating property valued from VND 50,000,000 to under VND 200,000,000;
   e) Committed against a person under 16 years of age, a woman known to be pregnant, an elderly person, or a person incapable of self-defense;
   g) Adversely affecting security, public order, or social safety;
   h) Dangerous recidivism.

3. The offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of between 12 years and 20 years if the offense falls under any of the following circumstances:
   a) Appropriating property valued from VND 200,000,000 to under VND 500,000,000;
   b) Inflicting injury or causing harm to the health of another person with a bodily injury rate from 31% to 60%;
   c) Taking advantage of natural disasters or epidemics.

4. The offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of 18 years to 20 years or life imprisonment if the offense falls under any of the following circumstances:
   a) Appropriating property valued at VND 500,000,000 or more;
   b) Inflicting injury or causing harm to the health of one person with a bodily injury rate of 61% or more, or inflicting injury or causing harm to the health of two or more persons with a bodily injury rate of at least 31% each;
   c) Causing death;
   d) Taking advantage of wartime or a state of emergency.

5. Any person who prepares for the commission of this offense shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of 01 year to 05 years.

6. In addition to the above penalties, the offender may also be subject to a fine of between VND 10,000,000 and VND 100,000,000, probation, prohibition from residence for a term of 01 year to 05 years, or confiscation of part or all of their property.
