The Criminal Procedure Code provides for participants in legal proceedings as follows:

Persons held in custody.

Suspects (Bị can).

Defendants (Bị cáo).

Victims.

Civil plaintiffs.

Civil defendants.

Persons with related rights and obligations in the case.

Witnesses.
-
Persons witnessing procedural acts.
-
Assessors (expert witnesses).
-
Valuation experts.
-
Interpreters and translators.

Defense counsels.
-
Representatives protecting the lawful rights and interests of victims and litigants.

Representatives protecting the lawful rights and interests of persons who are denounced or persons against whom a petition for prosecution is made.

Legal representatives of criminally charged juridical persons and other representatives as provided in this Code.
