No one but those in it can understand

There is a song that begins with the words: “We don’t talk anymore, we don’t talk like we used to do…”

There are couples who part ways, no longer speaking as they once did.
No longer holding hands in public like two teenagers skipping school.
No longer walking the same path, each turning in a different direction.

And outsiders look on, thinking it’s just a normal story.
But the truth is, they no longer share the same voice, the same laughter, the same rhythm of the heart. That invisible Wi-Fi connection between them? Totally disconnected.

Only those within the relationship truly know if there is happiness left.
Those on the outside will never fully understand. Sorry, you don’t!
Even if one believes they know – because they are a close friend, or even a parent, or a sibling of the husband or wife. Nope, you still don’t get the full picture.
It’s like the ultimate exclusive membership club: you don’t live it, you don’t know it.

Why is it that the marital bond, unlike any other, is considered so personal and intimate that in court, no one – not even parents or siblings – can represent a spouse?
Because only those within the marriage can truly grasp it – only the two of them know the negotiations, the compromises, the arguments about who left the dishes in the sink or who hogged the blanket at 2 a.m, who snored louder, who cheated first, the conflicts, the unspoken wounds.

In life, we hold many ties: mother and child, brothers and sisters, friends, colleagues.
But the bond between husband and wife is unlike any other

Unique. Complicated. Special.

And only those within it will ever truly understand.
