The manager spoke in that typical “old ghost bullying the new ghost” tone: “Since you’re new, your salary will be lower than those who have worked here longer.” (The set salary for staff was VND 6 million). I’m talking about base salary here, not commission.
Then she added, “During the probation period, I’ll pay you VND 3 million.”
Hearing that, he was furious! Paying like that was nothing short of an insult – just half the salary.
Fortunately, he had an older sister who studied law and once told him: the probation salary must not be lower than 85% of the official salary for that job.
So he brought out the law to counter her, demanding 85% of VND 6 million for his probation pay.
And she couldn’t argue back!
