Compilation of Interview Questions for U.S. Spousal Visa (Part 1)

Purpose: To prove that your relationship is genuine.

  • What is your spouse’s full name and date of birth?

  • Where and when did you meet your spouse?

  • Describe the first time you met.

  • Do you and your spouse often give each other romantic gifts?

  • How did you arrange to meet again?

  • Does your wife usually come to the airport to pick you up in person?

  • Did you exchange phone numbers the first time you met?

  • What was your next meeting like?

  • Where were you living at that time? Where was your spouse living?

  • When did you decide to get married? Where were you living then?

  • Did you live together before getting married?

  • When and where did you get married? Did you have a church ceremony?

  • Who were the witnesses at your wedding?

  • Did you exchange wedding rings?

  • Where did you buy the wedding rings? Did you buy them together?

  • Did you have a reception after the wedding ceremony?

  • Did you have a bachelor or bachelorette party?

  • Where was your wedding reception held?

  • Do you have photos of the wedding or reception?

  • Describe your wedding.

  • Did any family members from both sides attend? If yes, who?

  • Did you have a honeymoon? If yes, where, when, and for how many days?

  • What did you do after the wedding?

  • Did you give flowers or gifts to your wife’s mother or relatives?

  • Where did you live after the wedding?

  • What color underwear or sleepwear does your spouse usually wear?

  • What dishes does your spouse like to eat or cook?

  • Describe the place where you lived right after the wedding.

  • How many bedrooms and bathrooms were there? Describe the furniture, wall colors, flooring, appliances, air conditioner, heater, phone number, television – did you have cable TV?

  • Where did you buy the furniture? Was it already there, did you buy it, was it a gift, or did it belong to your spouse before marriage?

  • Do you shop for furniture together or discuss what to buy?

  • How were the items delivered?

  • Describe your bedroom. Where do you keep your clothes? Where does your spouse keep theirs? Where do you keep towels? Where do you put dirty laundry?

  • Where is the kitchen trash kept? On what days of the week is garbage collected?

  • Does your husband help with household chores? If yes, which ones?

  • Where do you buy groceries? Do you and your spouse shop together? How do you get there?

  • Where do you work? What days of the week do you work? How many hours? How much is your salary? What’s your workplace phone number? Who do you contact at your spouse’s workplace if necessary?

  • Do you go to the movies together often? When was the last time? What movie did you watch?

  • What is your spouse’s favorite sport? Do you cheer for them?

  • Who is your spouse’s best friend? Have you ever visited them together? What’s their name? What do they do? Where do they live?

  • When was your last vacation together? Where did you go? How did you get there? Describe the trip.

  • Where does your spouse work? What days of the week? How many hours? What’s their salary?

  • What is your spouse’s workplace phone number?

  • Do you know your spouse’s family members? Who are they?

  • What are the names and ages of your spouse’s children (if any)? Where do they study? Does your husband help take or pick them up from school?

  • Where are you currently living? If with relatives, who are they and what’s your relationship? How many people live in the house?

  • If renting, how much is the rent? When do you pay? How do you pay?

  • Do you have a joint bank account? Where? What type of account?

  • Does your husband send you financial support? Do you keep the receipts?

  • Are both of your names listed on the account? Do you have a bank letter?

  • Are you willing to share finances and support your wife? Can you guarantee her a stable life in the U.S.? (This is to prove that the sponsored spouse will not become a public charge.)

  • Did you file joint taxes this year? Do you have a copy?

  • Do you have shared assets? What are they? Do you have copies of documents?

  • What make and model are your and your spouse’s cars? Describe them.

  • What is your spouse’s favorite color?

  • Does your husband hold you when you sleep?

  • Do you often give gifts to each other? On what occasions? Do you keep any records or receipts?

  • What is the most special or favorite gift you have given each other?

  • When was your wife’s last menstrual period? How does she usually act during that time?

  • Do you often return to Vietnam to visit your wife? Do you register temporary residence when visiting? Do you have proof of that registration?

  • What is your spouse’s Social Security number?

  • Do you often visit your wife’s hometown? Do you have photos? Who did you visit there?

  • Do you often travel together? Do you have photos? What is your favorite travel destination?

  • Are your spouse’s parents still alive? What do they do? How old are they? What are their hobbies?

  • Have you ever been divorced?

  • Under what immigration category did your American husband come to the U.S.? Where was he born? Did he have any other names at birth?

  • What nicknames do you call each other?

  • When you are sick, does your spouse drive or go with you to the doctor? Can you describe those times?

  • Do you hold hands when going out together?
